Get to Know SparkReading
Help your students develop their reading comprehension skills on Edulastic so you can easily deliver assessments and track progress. Reading Comprehension
Get additional test prep practice with reading comprehension assessments. SparkReading includes 75 engaging fiction and nonfiction reading articles and passages. Categorized by reading level for Lexile levels 300-1200, the reading comprehension is designed to provide additional practice that can be used as homework, assignments, time-fillers, or as a compliment to an existing lesson. The assessments are perfect for assigning in-person or during distance learning.
STEM Reading Comprehension
Whoever said English class couldn’t include a little real-world science?! Give students interdisciplinary reading comprehension surrounding science passages. With the inclusion of STEM topics, you can improve students’ ability to think critically in a way that will help them interpret non-fiction topics. Students will read and respond to passages on a variety of topics with titles like “The Lifecycle of a Plant”, “What is a Wave?”, and “Apollo to the Moon.” They’ll be learning about science AND will be growing as readers at the same time.
Phonics
Help young students on their reading journey as they master each sound and develop their basic reading skills. SparkReading includes 600 phonics questions with activities for early readers in kindergarten through second grade. The questions reinforce beginning and ending sounds, long and short vowels, sight words, etc. The bundle also includes 3 diagnostic exams for pre and post-assessment. Get students on their way to becoming readers by starting them out with a strong foundation.
Book Bundles
If your middle school or high school class is working through a book together let our book bundles help you out. The book bundles will help you guide your students through the literature. How to Access SparkReading Bundles
Once you have SparkReading, head over to the Playlists tab on your left-side menu to explore the book bundles, STEM cross-curricular bundle, and general reading comprehension bundle. Pick and choose which assessments you’d like to use with your students, and then assign to students. If you’re new to Playlists, find some Playlist guidance here. And if you are new to Edulastic, you’ll likely be interested in our Quick-Start Guide to get up and running with your Edulastic account.
When you are all set, you’ll be on your way to better supporting your students with reading. Edulastic features a variety of reports and mastery tracking features that will help you know where students are at so you can both support students who are struggling, as well as those who are excelling with their work.
