How do you use Edulastic in your classroom?
I create daily work to monitor for understanding of my math standards. With this I am able to pinpoint misconceptions and remediate. I love the feature of being able to reassign the same assessments. I also use this for parent communication. Parents can log-in to see what their students standards are and monitor grades.
What initially inspired you to work in education?
I believe all students can learn. I want to instill a love for learning. Often I hear students and parents tell me that they hate math. I want to show them how math is a like a big puzzle. They way I work it is different then the way you would. That’s ok. The puzzle will get put together in its own time.
Please sum up your teaching philosophy:
I knew from an early age that I wanted to teach. I loved learning and wanted to pass that love to others.
How did you learn about Edulastic? What is your Edulastic story?
I was introduced to Edulastic by a former Tech Coach for my county. My first thoughts were “great, another website.” But that quickly changed to “GREAT!! Finally, a worthwhile website to help my students and drive my instruction.” I have never looked back!
What tips do you have for teachers who are new to Edulastic?
Use the help feature. Reach out to the Edulastic team. They are always very timely in responding to any question I have ever posed, usually within the hour.
Share an #EduVictory from the past year. In other words, do you have a particular success story that has happened in your classroom or at your school?
My students told me off and on all year last year how tricky they though the assignments on Edulastic were. But, those same kids came back after our state assessment and told me how they felt prepared for the question types based on what we did in Edulastic. The rigor is there!
